If you’re building a product with the potential for network effects, it’s tempting to focus on those features - ‘sharing’, ‘liking’, ‘recommendations’, etc. Another approach is to obsess over solving a problem for one person before addressing the herd.

As Chris Dixon said, “Come for the tool, stay for the network.” If you go back a bit further, you’ll hear echoes of Stowe Boyd’s “me first social”.
